Our story
Every organization begins with a reason.
From a grassroots effort in 2022 to a year-round nonprofit serving the Rio Grande Valley — this is the story of Operation Christmas RGV.
The beginning
A vision for community support
Founded in 2022, Operation Christmas RGV began as a grassroots effort to bring hope and joy to underserved families across the Rio Grande Valley.
The journey
Three years of learning and serving
What started as a small community initiative has grown into a year-round nonprofit serving thousands of children and families through holiday assistance, Thanksgiving meals, school-supply drives, health and job fairs, educational programs, and community events. Throughout its growth, Operation Christmas RGV has earned recognition for its commitment to the community, including being named a 2024 Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.org, receiving recognition in the Texas State Senate Chamber by State Senator Adam Hinojosa for its community impact, and being awarded the 2026 Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition for nonprofit transparency and accountability.
The next chapter
More connection, more opportunity
Today, Operation Christmas RGV continues to expand its programs, partnerships, and reach throughout the Rio Grande Valley under its mission of “Spreading Hope, one smile at a time.”
Our leadership
The people behind the mission.
